Kingaroy Kilkivan Rail Trail – emergency markers
The trail development plan for the Kingaroy Kilkivan Rail Trail (in Queensland) – prepared by Transplan Pty Ltd and Mike Halliburton Associates – included the recommendation for the installation of emergency markers at regular intervals along the trail. Emergency markers provide accurate locational information for emergency services should there be an incident on the trail. By quoting the unique locational code, trail users can alert the emergency services providers to the precise location where assistance is required. A recent inspection of sections of the KKRT by Mike Maher and Mike Halliburton soon discovered that emergency markers had been placed at 1 kilometre intervals.
