Concrete floodways – use on rail trails

It is often the case that old timber railway bridges have been stolen, removed by the railway manager, damaged by flood or are simply too decrepit for use as a rail trail bridge (even with repairs). One option for reinstating the waterway crossing is to use a concrete floodway (as commonly used at a floodway on a country road). A good example was recently seen by Mike Maher on the Kingaroy Kilkivan Rail Trail in the South Burnett Regional Council in Queensland).
