Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail Feasibility Study

Posted by on Sep 25, 2018

Mike Maher of Transplan Pty Ltd will again team up with Mike Halliburton (Mike Halliburton Associates of Brisbane, Queensland) to prepare a feasibility study for the proposed Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail in Queensland.

The study will examine the feasibility and practicality of establishing a rail trail, or a set of discrete rails trails, along some or all of the 271km long disused railway corridor.

The corridor is notable for its 6 tunnels and numerous bridges. Some of these bridges are amongst the most interesting and aesthetically attractive bridges in Queensland. The former railway corridor also features rare and historic ‘hogs back’ sleepers that will need preservation.

The corridor passes through two local government areas: Gladstone Regional Council and North Burnett Regional Council.
