Denmark to Nornalup (including Wilsons Inlet) Rail Trail

Mike Maher of Transplan Pty Ltd recently visited Denmark (in the Great Southern region of Western Australia) to check out the excellent rail trail that has been in place for 30+ years. The route follows closely alongside Wilson’s Inlet (only metres away in numerous locations). The former railway corridor was an obvious choice for the route of the Munda Biddi Trail (WA’s long distance off-road cycle touring trail). Mike Maher and Jesse Brampton recommended use of the abandoned railway corridor when preparing the concept alignment for the Munda Biddi back in the year 2000. Subsequent detailed planning for the route confirmed this was the best alignment.

Above: The old railway corridor has been used as a recreational trail for over 30 years. It is rarely far from the shores of Wilson’s Inlet.
