Great Southern Trails Forum

Posted by on Jun 1, 2018

Mike Maher recently attended the ‘Trail Town’ Trails Forum in Albany, hosted by the Great Southern Centre for Outdoor Recreation Excellence.

Much of the forum focussed on preparations for the upcoming Great Southern Regional Trails Master Plan. Attendees were asked to envisage what the Great Southern may look like in the year 2040 – and what may be needed in the provision of trails at that time.

The 100+ group was divided into tables of 10 focussing on a range of specific trail types (bushwalking, on-road cycling, canoe/kayak, MTB, diving/snorkelling etc), and attendees were asked to discuss and recommend trail projects that could/should be considered in the preparation of the Trails Master Plan.

The accumulated input from those attending the forum will be provided to the successful consultant once GSCORE has attained funding for the preparation of the Trails Master Plan.
